Student Travel Grants

With support from ACM CoNEXT 2008's industry supporters CISCO, Thomson, Nokia, Microsoft Research, CONTENT NoE and patron IBM Corp., ACM CoNEXT 2008 will provide a limited number of grants to students to attend the main conference and participate in the ACM CoNEXT 2008 Student Workshop.

Requests for travel support should be submitted via EDAS by no later than Monday, 6th October 2008.

The student should submit the following material: A resume, as a PDF file, and a cover letter providing:

Each student should arrange for his/her nominator (or a faculty contact if the student does not yet have a nominator) to submit a letter of recommendation. The applicant must provide the nominator's contact email address in the application, and the nominator will receive an email request to submit the letter of recommendation. It is the responsibility of the student to ensure that the nominator's letter of recommendation is submitted by the due date -applications missing the nominator's letter of recommendation will not be considered.

The letter of recommendation from the nominator must:

Given the limited availability of travel grant support, the travel awards will not cover the full amount required to attend the conference and the student workshop. In particular, conference and workshop registration costs will not be covered, while hotel and flight expenses will be covered to the extent possible.

Strongest consideration will be given to applications that can both demonstrate need for the travel grant, and willingness to complement the grant through other sources.

In making Student Travel Grant decisions, students with accepted posters/presentations at the ACM CoNext 2008 Student Workshop will be prioritized. However, the Committee strongly prefers students who are not authors of a conference paper or of a ReArch or ROADS workshop paper (the Committee believes the authors' home organizations should cover costs for authors).

Submission Deadline:Monday, 6th October 2008.
Notification: Travel awards will be announced on or around Friday, 24th October 2008.

Student Travel Grants Awards

Those students who have been awarded a travel grant must complete the ACM Reimbursement Request Form and return it to ACM as per the administrative procedure outlined on their Award Letter.

Questions regarding the Student Travel Grants may be addressed to the Student Travel Grant Chairs: Nicholas Race (n.race@lancaster.ac.uk), and Sanjay G. Rao (sanjay@purdue.edu).
