Also, in Amsterdam (1) the first European connection to the NSFnet network was established, (2) one of the worldwide largest Internet Exchanges routes much of the Internet traffic, and (3) the world’s first Regional Internet Registry (RIPE NCC) was founded.

Amsterdam Amsterdam

The Beurs van Berlage is a former stock exchange designed by the renowned architect Berlage in 1896, but now acts as conference location. The building is located in the characteristic historic center of Amsterdam, opposite of the central train station, amidst impressive cultural highlights and no fewer than 8000 hotel rooms.

According to the Safe Cities Index 2021, Amsterdam is the 6th safest city in the world. Moreover, Amsterdam is very well connected to the world-at-large through the Schiphol airport, where direct trains to Amsterdam (15 min.) run every 15 min. Schiphol is frequently rated among the top-5 airports worldwide, because of its single terminal concept and direct connections to major cities in Asia, Europe, and the USA. Also, the Dutch public transportation system is excellent.
