SIGCOMM '96 is being held on the campus of Stanford
University. Stanford is located in Palo Alto, California, about 30
miles south of San Francisco.
Getting to the Conference by Plane
Palo Alto is roughly equal distance from both San Francisco and San Jose
International Airports. Once at either airport, there are a variety of
different ways to get to Palo Alto.
The most expensive is a taxi (typically $70 from San Francisco airport).
Shared limo services are also available at a substantially lower cost.
It is also possible to take the train (there is a CalTrain shuttle bus
at San Francisco airport and there is a train station a short cab ride from
San Jose airport). The conference hotel is right next to the Palo Alto
train station; Stanford is a twenty minute walk from the station.
There will be shuttle bus services between the conference and the conference
hotel, so unless you are planning visits outside Stanford and Palo Alto,
you don't need a car. Otherwise a car is recommended as taxis are often
difficult to find.
Getting to the Conference from the Bay Area
You can drive to the conference (we expect to have some on-campus parking)
or you can take CalTrain to the Palo Alto station and catch either a SIGCOMM
shuttle bus from the Holiday Inn (which we expect to run in the morning
before 9 AM) or Stanford's free Marguerite shuttle bus.
