Dear SIGCOMM 2010 attendees,
Welcome to SIGCOMM 2010 in New Delhi! We are delighted to have you join us and look forward to your participation in the conference. Through this letter, we would like to provide a summary of the various activities during the week and to share other useful information.
The registration desk will be open 7:30 am to 6:00 pm on Mon, August 30 and Tue, August 31; 8:00 am to 6:00 pm on Wed, September 1 and Thu, September 2; and 8:00 am to 5:00 pm on Fri, September 3. The desk will be located right outside Desire on Mon, outside Sovereign on Tue, Wed, and Thu, and on the 20th floor on Fri.
We have several student volunteers who are helping out with the conference. You can identify them by the yellow, SIGCOMM 2010 t-shirts worn by them. Please feel free to contact any volunteer or member of the organizing team for help. Please also extend your cooperation to the student volunteers as they go about their jobs, including collecting meal coupons (see below).
Note: Rooms 2000 and 2010-2020 are on the 20th floor. The rest are on the ground floor.
Note: Your registration packet includes a set of coupons corresponding to the events that you have registered for (workshops and/or the main conference). You will be asked to hand in your coupon at each of the meals. This is a requirement to help us with accounting and we would appreciate your cooperation in this matter. Note that additional coupons can be purchased at the registration desk.
To connect to the conference WiFi network, select the "SIGCOMM" SSID and enter the key included in your printed welcome letter, when prompted. The SIGCOMM network will be available on the ground floor on all 5 days of the conference (Monday through Friday) and on the 20th floor during the workshop days (Monday and Friday).
The conference also has a computer room under the main staircase on the ground floor that is equipped with Internet-connected computers and a printer.
Le Méridien Hotel has a doctor on call 24 hours a day. If you need to consult the doctor, please contact the hotel's front desk or one of the organizing team members or student volunteers. Here are some important phone numbers to keep handy: Police (100), Fire Service (101), Ambulance (102), Le Méridien Hotel (23710101).
Delhi is generally a safe city. However, if venturing out after dark in unfamiliar parts of town, it would be advisable to have company, especially if you are female. Also, traffic can be chaotic, so please take care when crossing the streets. Do NOT assume that the driver of a vehicle will stop for you even if he or she has made eye contact with you.
It’s the monsoon time and Delhi has been experiencing heavier than normal rainfall. Please prepare accordingly, e.g., pack an umbrella.
Once again, welcome to SIGCOMM 2010. We hope that you have an enjoyable time at the conference and in New Delhi!
Sincerely,
SIGCOMM 2010 Organizing Committee
