Rock, Paper, Scissors, and the Hard Place

The Non-Paper Session will take place at Room Auditorium.

The Scientific Communications business is caught between the rock, paper, scissors, and the hard place. New challenges to discernment have arisen with the presence of the hyperscale technology companies, infrastructures including AI (conferences, as well as platforms, tools, traces!). The problem is scale: Scale of the world; Scale of Science itself; Scale of the tools we use in a half-baked way to tackle the scale itself. This session is to promote a Sigcomm initiative to outline a program of work to try to apply systems thinking to the problem of scaling up our approach to the human-science interface.
