The workshop is going to be held at the NYU Torch Club, located at 18 Waverly Place, New York, NY 10003. Please note that this venue does not have any rooms for accomodation. However, there are many hotels that are convenient and near-by; New York City offers a very wide variety of hotel options, across price ranges and luxury requirements.
Official Workshop Hotels
Official accommodations for HotNets-VIII attendees has been arranged at the Club Quarters. This hotel is located on 45th Street, between 5th and 6th Avenues in Midtown Manhattan. Listed in the National Register of Historic Places, Club Quarters Midtown is centrally located and amidst Rockefeller Center, Times Square and the Theater District. The hotel provides complimentary Internet access in all guest rooms, free wireless Internet throughout most of the hotel areas, and complimentary parking. It's proximity to the Grand Central station makes the commute to the workshop venue quick and simple. You can take 4/5 trains for a 5 minute ride to 14th St Union Square, or the 6 train for a 10 minute ride to Astor Place. Alternatively, you can board trains at the 42nd St Times Square station; the N/Q trains get you to the 14th St Union Square station in 7 minutes, and the R/W trains get you to the 8th St (NYU) station in 10 minutes. Reservations can be made by calling the hotel directly at 1-212-354-6400. The cost is $229 + tax per night. The other official hotel for the workshop is the Holiday Inn SoHo. Located in the heart of New York City, this hotel is stylish and elegant; this recently renovated Downtown Manhattan hotel is moments away from some of the most popular attractions in NYC including: Canal Street, the Statue of Liberty and Ground Zero. Just one block from Chinatown, Little Italy, and the charm of Greenwich Village, the Holiday Inn SoHo NY hotel is surrounded by world-famous New York City dining and shopping. This hotel is a mere 10-12 minute walk form the conferenfce venue. You can also take the R/W train from Canal St to 8th St NYU, or the 6 train from Canal St to Astor Place; these journeys should take less than 5 minutes. We have negotiated a special rate with this hotel as well: $219 + tax per night. Note: The 14th St Union Square train station is about a 6-8 minute walk from the workshop venue. The "Astor Place" and "8th Street NYU" train stations are closer to the venue, and you can transfer to these trains at Union Square. For example, if you take the 4/5 train to Union Square, just cross the platform and take the 6 train one stop down to Astor Place. Similarly, if you take the N/Q train to Union Square, cross the platform and take the R/W train one stop down to 8th St NYU.
