Florianópolis
Florianópolis (FLN) is located in a region with fewer incidence of Aedes Aegypti (mosquitoes found to be the primary vector for spreading Zika virus), as shown in the map below. Also, expected average temperatures for the period of SIGCOMM'16 are 21ºC (70ºF) max. and 14ºC (57ºF) min. During this period (winter time in South Brazil), Aegypti density eventually decreases (given its inability to survive under lower temperatures), thus reducing the occurrence of related diseases. The combination of these factors (lower mosquito incidence in the region, plus colder temperatures) makes Florianópolis a safer region with regard to Zika.
